Why install a tankless water heater?

Last updated on: in Plumbing Tips

Tankless water heaters are different because they heat water without requiring a traditional large storage tank. This means that you’re only heating the water you need at any given moment.

Also, since they don’t use a storage tank, you will avoid standy heat loss that comes with having a large amount of hot water being stored that’s not immediately being used.

Gas-fired tankless water heaters are using, you guessed it, gas instead of a heating element your current water heater most likely uses. This helps deliver an endless supply of hot water almost instantaneously instead of having to rely on the heating element to first slowly heat up a tank of water for you.

However, unlike a large storage tank, you may have to plan your hot water usage a bit more carefully. Running a shower and the dishwasher at the same time, for example, can tax the ability of the tankless water heater to provide a sufficient quantity of hot water. There are a couple of remedies to this issue: 1. Install a “whole house” tankless water heater or install multiple units (two or more), connected in parallel for simultaneous delivery of hot water.
